Repository reconnaissance

Use this before implementation when the codebase is unfamiliar.

Audit the repository before editing. Identify the request path, data model, tests, deployment boundary, and any local instructions. State the smallest safe change, then implement it. Preserve unrelated worktree changes. Verify with the narrowest relevant checks before expanding.

Evidence-led bug fix

Force the agent to establish the failure before changing code.

Reproduce the reported behavior or find direct evidence of it. Trace the failing value from input to output, name the root cause, and add a regression test that fails for that cause. Implement the smallest fix, run the focused test, then run the nearest broader suite.

Production handoff

A final prompt that produces an operationally useful report.

Before finishing, inspect the diff for accidental scope, verify new failure paths, and report: behavior changed, files changed, checks run with results, deployment or migration steps, and any remaining risk. Do not call unverified work complete.
